 Hey y'all! Welcome to Southern Roots & Boots, I'm Ashton Peterson. I'm a twenty-something graduate of East Carolina University (even though The University of Alabama is where I started my collegiate career and still scream ROLL TIDE on Saturday's in the Fall!) I am married to my high school sweetheart at 19 years old and 8 years later I still adore just as much as I did when we were 15 year old kids. Our only child has four legs. We rescued our pride and joy, Smokey, 9 years ago and he has been spoiled ever since. He is a Borador (Bordie collie-Lab mix), so he is very smart and has us wrapped around his paws. I was born in a small town called Pembroke, North Carolina that is known as the Home of the Lumbee Tribe. I am Native American and love every bit of our culture. After getting married my husband joined the U.S. Army and we have been exploring the country ever since. Over the past 6 years we have lived at Ft. Irwin, CA; Ft. Hood, TX; Ft. Benning, GA; Ft. Gordon, GA; and now we are at Ft. Bragg.

Ever since I can remember I have loved fashion. I remember playing dress up as a child and always wanting to change my Barbie dolls outfits. I learned how to sew in high school and have been in love with it ever since. I've created everything from my prom dresses to various bags. I love all things crafting and recently bought a Silhouette machine that I've been having a blast with. Fashion will always be my first love; however, Home Decor has become a close second in recent years. This has inspired me to create Southern Roots & Boots, a place where I share inspiration for cozy living & easy southern style. If you too are a lover of classic style and life in the South then have a seat and stay awhile.

The Southern Roots & Boots is an outlet for me to share my recent shopping finds and style inspiration with others. I love helping others know where to shop, what to buy and how to style everything from their wardrobe. I also love home decor and crafts so there will be plenty of home interior inspiration and tutorial posts.
