February 22, 2011 marks the day Thomas and I promised forever to each other. We had been dating for 4 years and he had recently moved across the country from Washington to North Carolina so that we could be near each other again. I had moved from Washington back home to North Carolina when my mom retired from the military 2 1/2 years prior and we had been dating long distance. After being in NC for a year, he joined the Army to follow his dreams of getting a college education. We found out he was leaving for basic training the beginning of March and we only had about 2 weeks to figure out what we were going to do! We decided we wanted to get married, so the following day I skipped my College Calculus class to go to the Justice of Peace to marry my high school sweetheart in jeans and cowboy boots.
3 years after getting married we were able to have our dream wedding on a beautiful Summer day in the perfect rustic barn. It was everything we could have dreamed of and more! It was such a special day where we were able to celebrate with our loved ones and have our family and friends to come together as one.
So....who's ready for a trip down memory lane?
What an amazing 7 years it has been! We have moved across the country and back, graduated with our bachelor's degrees, and most of all we have grown together. There is no one else I would want would to live my life and accomplish my dreams and goals with. We love to have a good time and make each other laugh, but most of all we support and push each other to do our best. Marriage is hard and being married to a soldier is even harder. It is hard to be without your spouse for months or a year at a time and not hearing from them for weeks. Being a military spouse is the hardest job I've ever had, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I grew up in a military family and understand the importance of the sacrifice our men and women make every day. I am so proud to be an Army Wife and so extremely proud of my husband for all that he does. This life isn't easy but together we get through it! I look forward to many more years of living life with my best friend.
Happy Anniversary! Love you always and forever!
