2017 brought a lot of changes and accomplishments. Between both my husband and I graduating with our Bachelor's degrees, both starting new jobs, starting this blog, and moving, this year has been packed full of excitement! First, we moved from Texas to Georgia in April...right in the middle of my finals! Talk about stressful! Second, I was able to complete my finals online and we attended my graduation to celebrate all of my accomplishments! It took me what felt like forever (6 years) to complete my degree due to our military lifestyle, moving every 2 years was such a challenge, and changing my major 3 times. I was finally able to complete my degree online from a known University back home in NC and in a portable field for our ever-changing lifestyle. Our third big change this year was my husband started his new job as a Drill Sergeant which brought new challenges and change to our lives. The last big event this year was I finally got a job the beginning of December! I had been applying for jobs since we got here in April. I love what I do and can't wait to see how much I grow over the next year.
2017 flew by and before I knew it the holidays were here and now it is the start of a new year! The older I get the quicker the years seem to fly by. It's a new year so that means its time for New Year's Resolutions! Every year we all like to make a list of changes we want to make throughout the new year so I thought it would be fun to share my New Years Resolutions with you! This year I want to find a balance for all of the changes in our lives between my husband's busy schedule and me starting a new job along with doing the blog.
MY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS
-
Exercise more regularly.
I'm not the type of person that loves to workout at the gym, I prefer to workout at home with workout videos that I can follow along with. I also find that I need some sort of set schedule to stick to and that if I don't exercise in the morning I will forget or make some sort of excuse. This year I will sign up for an at-home workout program such as Tone It Up or Physique57 that has weekly schedules and easy to follow videos to keep me motivated. I really want to exercise regularly (5 days a week at least) over this next year and make working out a habit and not a chore! -
Schedule a "me" day once a week to rejuvenate myself.
I have decided to make Saturday my relaxing day where I will do all of the things I love. Sleep in, have a spa night with face masks and a full body scrub, get my nails done, watch Hallmark movies, binge-watch a show on Netflix, go to my favorite stores like Target or Hobby Lobby, call my friends and family to catch up and play with my fur son Smokey. Basically, I will do all of the things I love and take time to relax and rejuvenate for the next week ahead. -
Have a date night with my husband at least once a month.
With my husband's busy schedule it is important that we devote time to spend together. We get so caught up in our work that we don't take the time to put our phones away and do something fun together. This next year I want to start a date night at least once a month where we turn our phones off and do something fun together! -
Learn and grow my skills at my new job.
This is my first job in the field of my degree so it is still a huge learning curve for me. This next year I really want to learn and grow my skills as much as possible. I love to learn and being that this is a field that I do not have a lot of experience in, I really want to push myself to learn as much as possible to better myself and grow my knowledge in this field. -
Make new friends.
Since we move so often I find that I don't put myself out there to make new friends. I have friends that I have known for years and we talk regularly and visit one another, but I do not have friends here in Georgia that I can go to dinner with or see a movie. Over the next year, I want to push myself to get out there and meet new people.
There you have it my New Year's Resolutions for 2018! Over this next year, I want to focus on creating balance in my life while opening myself up to making new friends here in Georgia. I want to be a stronger, wiser, happier, relaxed, and a better person by the end of next year. I know it is easier said than done but I am up for the challenge! Here's to a new and exciting year that we are all going rock! I would love to hear your New Years Resolutions in the comments!
